Amazon Prime Day 2022 has arrived and with it a bevy of discounts on fitness trackers and running watches we rate highly. The offers on Garmin devices are particularly strong this year but there’s one discount which stands out to us – the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music.
Recently we tested and loved the Garmin Forerunner 255, the successor to the Garmin Forerunner 245. Notable updates on the new watch included a triathlon mode and enhanced GPS accuracy, however, we noted in our review that keen runners would be almost as well-served by the Forerunner 245, especially if it popped up in sales at a juicy discount.
That deal is clearly the best discount going on a Garmin in the UK sales, but in the US it’s run very close by the reduction on the Garmin Forerunner 945, which is now $349.99. That’s a great price for a top multisport watch with music storage and colour maps, and worth considering.
However, we rate the Forerunner 245 deal as better simply because it’s a watch that will appeal to more people and completely blows the competition out of the water at the price it’s going for in the sales.
Having tested all of the best running watches, we can say with confidence that you won’t find anything better than the 245 Music for $240/£170 even if it is an older device.
Garmin’s sports tracking and training analysis remains the gold-standard and the Forerunner 245 includes breadcrumb navigation. The music storage on the Forerunner 245 Music is also very easy to use as it partners with streaming services including Spotify so you can wirelessly transfer and store your playlists offline. You’d think most, if not all, GPS watch makers would offer this but that is far from the case.
We tested the Forerunner 245 extensively and it offers very accurate GPS tracking, even if it falls slightly short of the accuracy of the Forerunner 255, which has multi-band tracking.
