I’m Training For A Marathon And Prime Day Is An Opportunity To Stock Up On Running Essentials For Less

Running

Prime Day, the annual two-day dealfest held by Amazon every summer, always has plenty of discounts on expensive purchases that can help runners (cough Garmin Prime Day deals cough), but it can also be useful for buying more prosaic items you know you’re going to need and if you nab a deal now you can save a bit of money in the long run.

I have wrangled myself a place in this year’s London Marathon (lucky me) and am three-weeks deep into this sub-3hr marathon training plan and oh my am I running a lot. To the point where I’m scrabbling to find clean running socks (and I’m well stocked from contributing to our best running socks round-up).

Yesterday I attended a London Marathon media event and as well trying out gait analysis and hearing from this year’s lead charity partner the British Heart Foundation (opens in new tab) talk turned to fuelling the long runs. That means gels and sports drinks, which I have little direct experience of. I need to start practising consuming carbs mid run and when better to start then this weekend?

So, armed with a shopping list of socks and supplements, I’ve dived into the morass of Prime Day deals to identify potentially useful money savers for anyone who’s following a running training plan this summer.
