If you’re a night owl who regularly pounds the pavements after dark then investing in some reflective running gear is a savvy move. A few reflective details here and there can go a surprisingly long way to making you more visible to drivers and other pavement users, and if there are high-visibility colours used as well you’ll be more noticeable in the daytime too.
The great news is that you don’t have to make any sacrifices when buying high-visibility models, because some of the very best running shoes on the market come in special editions with reflective details. Many running brands also build reflective details into their shoes as a matter of course.
We’ve picked out the best high-visibility running shoes you can get below, and if you’re on the hunt for high-vis gear in general head to our round-up of the best reflective running gear.
The best high-visibility running shoe you can get is the high-visibility version of the best running shoe you can get. The Endorphin Speed 2 is a brilliant all-round shoe, with a nylon plate in the midsole to deliver a fast and efficient but still comfortable ride that works for everything from easy plods to 5K races in our experience. The VIZIPRO version combines a bright colourway with reflective details to make sure you’re spotted on your runs. If you’re keen on getting a fully fledged carbon racing shoe the Saucony also offers a VIZIPRO version of the Endorphin Pro 2.

Some of our favourite Brooks shoes are included in the company’s limited-edition Run Visible collection, including the speedy Hyperion Tempo and versatile Ghost 14. However, the stand-out option is the Brooks Glycerin 19, which we rate as the most comfortable running shoe from any brand thanks to the soft DNA Loft cushioning and plushy padded upper. The Run Visible version has large reflective patches on the upper, plus bright yellow laces.

Several of Puma’s excellent Nitro range come in WTR editions, which means water repellant uppers complete with reflective details. In the case of the Deviate Nitro carbon plate shoe, the entire upper turns into an attractive reflective rainbow when light hits it. However, the pick of the bunch is the Velocity Nitro, which was one of our favourite new shoes of 2021, offering a cushioned ride that’s still versatile enough for faster running at a great price of £100. The WTR version is a little pricier at £110, and for that extra outlay you get reflective details on the laces and heel, plus protection from wet weather.
