Can a woman follow the same workout program as a man? Is there a difference between a woman’s workout program and a man’s workout program?
There is a common misconception out there that women should only pump and tone with the pink dumbbells or else they’ll start to look like men.
But the truth of the matter is that both men and women have the same major muscle groups, and those muscle groups need to be trained with the same types of exercises.
And as for looking like a man from weight training alone, it’s almost impossible. Women only have about 10% of the natural testosterone that men do. And it’s hard enough for men to build a lot of muscle. So if you see a woman who has developed so much muscle that she looks masculine, you can rest assured that it didn’t happen by accident. In 99.9% of these cases the women who look like men are taking anabolic steroids along with other muscle enhancing drugs.
The fundamentals of weight training apply just as much to building a woman’s physiques as they do for building a man’s physique. The fittest women in the world follow the same types of workout programs as the fittest men in the world. They are pushing themselves in the weight room and training hard with with lots of big basic free weight exercises.
A prime example of this is with my wife Patricia and I, we both workout together as training partners and we follow the exact same workout routine in the gym set for set. This type of weight training combined with cardio and proper nutrition has allowed her to build a very shapely physique. She has even competed in the Canadian National Figure Championships.
If she had of limited herself to curling the pink dumbbells and doing Zumba classes there is no way she would have been able to achieve the lean muscle definition that’s required to be competitive in Figure Competition.
So to answer the question – Can Women Follow The Same Workout Program as Men?
The Answer is YES!
